MOROCCAN GREAT SOUTH
June 28th 2003 : Agadir - Taroudant - Ouarzazate
Breakfast and departure to Ouarzazate via Taroudant,
famous for its unusual and artistic craft work. The city of
Taroudant has distinctive appearance, surrounded by crenulated
walls, gardens, olive trees and palms. This charming city was
once the capital of the Souss region, a large plain bathed in
sunlight gilding the hillsides and enriching the earth. The
carved stones, Berber jewels and old weapons are much appreciated
and its narrow winding streets and narrow Place d'Assarag flanked
by picturesque markets, lend the city an enchanting air for
the tourist. Just after the visit, departure to Tiout where
you will have the opportunity to ride mules or donkies before
you come back to get a typical lunch at the private house of
the local authority. Continuation towards the agriculture village
Aoulouz, Taliouine and Tazenakht, famous with its carpets. On
the way you will discover the famous village Ait Benhaddou which
is 30 kilometres far from Ouarzazate. Just imagine a fabulous
sand castle transported, as if by magic, to stand in the middle
of a field of flowering amond trees. So beautiful and playing
so artfully with the light that it has often been used as a
setting for films such as "Lawrence of Arabia" and
"The Diamond of the Nil", "The Bible", "Sodom
& Gomorrh ", "The Mummy" and "The Gladiators".
Indeed, this kasbah is so exceptional that Unesco has given
it world heritage status. Arrival in Ouarzazate late in the

June 29th 2003 : Ouarzazate
- Zagora - Ouarzazate
After Breakfast you will have a short city tour of Ouarzazate
to discover the important kasbah of Taourirt, old El Glaoui's
residence which was founded in 1928 and has a comfortable tourist
hotel with attractive city views, pure berber - style castles
and the vast sun-drenched plain surrounding it. Sightseeing
of Tifoultout Kasbah, another El Glaoui's old and beautiful
palace then drive to the most known Departure to Zagora via
the very beautiful village of Agdz and the unforgettable Draa
valley. Visit of the Amezrou village with its sand dunes. Lunch
under nomad tents at the hotel La Fibule du Draa and return
back to Ouarzazte for dinner and accommodation at your hotel.
June 30th 2003
: Ouarzazate - Marrakech - Agadir
Breakfast and departure to Marrakech via the Tizi n'Tichka pass
(2270 m). After lunch at a typical old palace at the medina,
our guide will show you the famous square Jemâa El Fna
to see some acrobates, snake charmers, story tellers etc
before you drive back to Agadir to Agadir via the villages of
Chichaoua and Imin Tanout. You will like the road through the
high Atlas mountains. Transfer to the selected hotel for your
holiday or to the airport Al Massira, assistance to the different
formalities for the flight back and end of our services.

IMPERIAL CITY MARRAKECH
& ESSAOUIRA
June 28th 2003 : Agadir
- Marrakech
There are 160 miles separating Marrakech from Agadir. The itinerary
will be divided into three parts. First we will cross a part
of the Souss plain where we see a forest of Argan trees that
exist only in this part of the world. Second we will cross the
High Atlas mountains which are the highest in North Africa and
where the highest peak rises up to 14.000 feet. There we will
admire the scenery of these mountains as well as mud-hut villages
where the Berber people live. After a short stop in Imin Tanout
between Agadir and Marrakech, we leave the high Atlas to start
the third part of the itinerary across the plain until Marrakech.
We will start the visit of Marrakech with the Menara pool which
will be the first monument we will visit, it consists of a huge
pool and a pavilion. then we will leave the Menara gardens and
pool stop next at the Koutoubia Minaret and Mosque. After this
we go to our hotel to check in and have lunch.
We go for a drive around the city walls which will give you
an idea about this old city where you will discover more things
once you are inside the walls. We drive to the souks which are
the traditional Moroccan markets and very typical where you
will see different kinds of handicraft. At the end of the visit
we will go to Jamaa El Fna square which is one of the most famous
places in Morocco there you will see a real show in the open
air : snake charmers, story tellers, acrobats, dancers, singers,
fortune tellers etc... Return to the hotel to get changed and
ready for a gala dinner at the famous restaurant Chez Ali with
folkore groups and bailydancing.
June 29th 2003 : Marrakech
- Essaouira
Breakfast and check out to start the historcal visit : the Bahia
palace, the Saadiens Tombs, the museum Dar Si Said and a craft
cooperative. Time to get lunch and we drive to to Essaouira
via the village Chichaoua. The charming small city, Essaouira
is the ancient portuguese fortress of Mogador. It has been fortified
by a french architect follower of Vauban. His influences gave
an unique result, very attractive, and the town became then
a city of artists. Essaouira has a microclimate extremely favourable
which assure a mild temperature in winter and fresh one in summer.
Check in at the hotel Les Iles situated directly at the Beach.
Dinner and overnight
June 30th 2003 : Essaouira
- Agadir
Visit the romantic town of Essaouira which is divided by means
of interior walls into three clearly differentiated urban areas:
the Medina, the Mellah and the kasbah. There are many lovely
gardens within the city, forming areas of delicious coolness.
The out standing monuments here are the Porte de la Marine with
the figure 1769 marked on the pediment, the Sqala in the harbour,
the Sqala in the Kasbah. There is a splendid beach at Essaouira,
with fine sand, where the climate is always mild because it
is sheltered by the island in the bay. Lunch fish-specialities
at the restaurant "Le Coquillage" and in the afternoon,
departure to Agadir. The road from Essaouira to Agadir is amongst
the most scenic in Morocco. we drive through a forest of thuya
trees, their wood is used to make beautiful prices of art. During
the road, you will appreciate the magnificent sea view. You
will not forget it! . Transfer to the selected hotel for your
holiday or to the airport Al Massira, assistance to the different
formalities for the flight back and end of our services.
