This site presents 10 illustrated French idioms, from Alain LeSaux's book Maman m'a dit que son amie Yvette était vraiment chouette (Paris, Rivages / Payot, 1987), which contains humorous literal representations of these idioms.

The book is recommended for teachers of French because it offers an effective and entertaining way to enrich vocabulary. More illustrated idioms can be found in other works by LeSaux, also published by Rivages/Payot.
